What We're Making

Just finished a bench for the outdoor shower area. I used Paduak as it is very durable and rot resistant.
I hate curves , so this piece has 58 individually. curved pieces...

Beautiful projects ducky911 and Flyfish!

Been rebuilding this bobsled and have a lot to do yet but a good start. The rear bob I will go get tomorrow from the hills. It will need to be packed out and sledded out. Be an all day job but am excited to be able to find a rear bob from the same ranch. I would imagine they feed and went to town in it darning wintah months.
About 70 holes need to be drilled in wood and iron. A lot more work then it appears. I'm having the steel runners welded and the wood runners in picture are not finished on back ends waiting for steel to get welded.

We bought a new chair for the bedroom and needed a small side table. Gotta have some place to set down my Irish Whiskey. I matched the style and materials for some other tables I have made, walnut frame with curly maple for the top, shelf and drawer face. I spent more time on the drawer than the rest of the table because I wanted to build it in the traditional way with half blind dovetails in front and through dovetails in the back. I have refined my technique for hand cut through dovetails combining several different processes but the half blinds were challenging for me. It took me 3 attempts to get a result that made me happy. The only problem is that our cat Ziggy has decided that the new chair is perfect for his long naps.

My wife requested a nice looking trash can that would allow the current plastic one to fit inside. I came up with this design and learned a couple of new skills in making corners with matching inside/outside curves as well as getting a tight fitting inset bottom using router templates. It was a fun project and the wife is happy.

@Fotodog Nice work on both your recent posts. Good looking dovetails - they are not easy.
Like the curved corners of the trash can. I'll have to look into that technique.

This attached story is the restoration of a 1941 GE 23 ton switch engine. It is kind of long, but interesting.
It was a great learning experience. I had a lot of help from people on the railroad restoration website.

Carved out a couple of cedar fence post table center pieces. Nothing fancy just very rustic for my area interior décor. The posts have been in the ground for ~150 years and the history of the wood is what people like. The old cedar posts were cut by hand and hauled out by horses or mules in the day.

I will give these two away as tokens of kindness they will be giving me later in the month.
