Whats the story behind your avatar choice?

My avatar is a photo my wife took while I was shooting the sunset in Death Valley. My career was a professional photographer doing mostly advertising work in my studio, and my personal work was shooting landscapes.

My first avatar here (which I use in several other forums) was already taken... I mean, someone here had the *exact* same picture! We talked and laughed about it, and I said I would pick a different one. My next (and current) avatar choice has always been an inspiration to me... someone who went from rock bottom ("seven years of college down the drain") to U.S. Senator :)

That is a picture of John Belushi right? So were you a U.S. Senator?

My avatar is part of a glas art installation. Smooth, calming, beautiful and transpearant. I support these things in life and generally think we could do with more of the same :)

This is F-18A ship 6 flying of NAS PAX RIVER. She was my baby from Jan 1980 after I got out of navy. She was the spin bird, had 12 1000amp battery’s in place of radar. Pilots put her through paces trying to get jet into spin. If she did and pilot couldn’t recover he’d pull a parachute to start recovery. The battery’s were for aircraft systems that might have died…..

ORANGE IS MY FAVORITE COLOR…..

You're all more creative than I am. I can certainly see how people have fun with them. I just don't know what I'd pick or where I'd get it from. I waste enough time on this thing already trying to follow the Social Security threads! ;)
How about use this one?

HIstory buff, my screen name on a number of forums/sites, mostly gaming ones from many years ago. I initially used the original sepia version, but later found a colorized one that I liked.

Bonsai. I wish I had a tree like that. I have some trees that I’ve kept going now for over ten years. I like the maples for their fall color. If I ever come across a really nice tree, I’ll buy it now that I’ve had success keeping my trees alive through many winters. I would hate to get a really old tree just to kill it, which was exactly what happened to some of the early trees I bought. Thankfully they were not very old.

It's a picture taken after a challenging hike we did in the Blue Ridge mountains near Roanoke, VA. We made it to this glorious rock overlooking the valley. I very, very carefully inched towards the edge so I could get this picture. I'm not a big risk taker, but I do have my moments and this was one of them!

It was taken very close to the time I joined this forum and was just a FIRE dreamer. I recall sitting there and pondering our future. This picture reminds me of how far we have come over the years, and all that we have accomplished. Thanks for making me think about it!
