We have the SS COLA for 2025, and the finance blogs have figured out the IRMAA levels for 2025. When are the actual prices published?

I know it has to be soon, because Medicare payment for Jan is required by 12/25 and we usually get the bill issued 11/28.

Just wondering.

Last two years the new medicare rates came out in September and October, respectively; [MOD EDIT]

Both Chat GPT and Google AI say the same thing. The delay is due to the changes in Plan D, which led to changes in costs and premiums for both insurers and policyholders. CMS has to assess the impact and try to limit negative impacts.

Even though Plan D does not directly affect Plan B, it does affect Medicare Advantage plans which often combine both, and Plan B premiums and deductibles do affect MA plans.

This doesn't make sense. Part C plans and their costs are already out. Part D plans and their costs are already out; they came out on time.

It also might affect the Part D IRMAA?

Plan C and Plan D costs are out because insurers are required to publish them, open enrollment is Nov 1. That doesn’t mean the underlying costs have been resolved, especially pharma coverage for MA plans.

There are no PLAN A, B, C, and D; there are PART A, B, C, and D. I am losing confidence in ChatGPT and Google AI.

My mistake, not the AI Chat. I think the intention was clear.

That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet

But we don’t know the amounts.
True, and you make a good point. It just adds to the difficulty projecting total Plan D costs for 2025 and how much each party pays.

Well I know it is going to be soon, as bills go out 11/28 I believe.

Also is the 2025 COLA already reflected in our statements at SS.gov. DH starts next year at 70.

I’m finding predictions that the 2025 Part D premium will be $185.

Medicare Premiums 2025: Projected IRMAA for Parts B and D
That would be a major change, as now there is no “base premium” for Part D like there is for Part B.

Older pensioners with lower SS incomes could be exempted, at least partially, as they are protected against increases in Medicare premiums exceeding their increase in pension.

Very complicated. If that $185 happens it will be painful for IRMAA.

I read the projected deductible for Part B will raise from $240 to $257.

Sorry I mistyped and meant Part B premium.

Open enrollment is 10/15

Does anyone know if the current statements on SS.gov have been updated for the 2025 COLA?

11 November and still no 2025 Medicare rates? Maybe tomorrow?

Marc

PS Just checked SSA statement and it has not been updated with COLA.
