I visit an outdoor site that asked this question. With 4 page of posts 95% of the man in the family is the primary cook.

I do some but very little. My wife is the primary cook, and I appreciate her so very much.

The food that I cook taste way better than my husband's so I am the primary cook at home.

Started cooking in 1966 at a pizza place, I still cook all dinners.
I really learned after eating C-Rations off and on for a year. LOL

I can cook and do on occasion, but DW is so much better and she much prefers her cooking to mine. My kitchen roles are dishwasher and cleaner, which I carry out with excellence and without complaint.

I grill every once in awhile but the main cooking is DW....

BUT, now that the last kid is out the house she does not cook as much... we buy some meals or I make my own (really heat something up)...

I make breakfast for two, coffee, hand dishwasher, kitchen duty. Ms G fills in the rest.

I am also the smoker / griller. Husband does the cleaning. We also no longer cook as much. But we do entertain and have invite people over. That's when we cook up a storm.

My mom never cooked. Ever. We ate out most breakfasts and nights as kids and her idea of "eating in" was ordering take out. A sandwich was about the limit to her skills. Her mom was the same.

One of my goals when I retired was to learn to cook. Must say that I'm pretty good at it and can do some really fancy stuff. We regularly have formal sit-down special event nights (please dress appropriately) where I'll cook for as many as 15. I do breakfast and dinner; DW will do lunches but she loves baking cakes etc..

DH is a great partner and helper and does so much for the yard, house, etc. I do almost all of the cooking, meal prep and food shopping. Really all the shopping. DH also cleans all the floors, I love it.

We share duties, but it’s all basic stuff. The wife is more of a baker and does cookies, cakes and that sort and will admit thats what she does best. If it was up to me we would go out every day which we did quite often when I was working. Now that we are retired we eat out a lot less and it’s probably why I dropped almost 100 pounds! That’s not a typo. So I’m a lot more aware of my eating now and know eating out constantly isn’t healthy.

Unless is microwavable, I don't cook indoors. BUT, I do all the outside grill-in.

DW's culinary instincts are Irish. My ethnic heritage is Finnish, so I can sympathize. But my palate is Indian, from curry to coriander. Food should be spicy and aromatic. So I take the lead in the kitchen.

I've pretty much always been the cook, even when I was working. Of course, I'm pretty much retired now and my wife is still working, so it makes more sense that I'd do it anyway, but I am (and she would back me on this) a much better cook.

I actually enjoy cooking itself. It's the cleanup I hate.

I’m the primary cook but DH makes quite a few breakfasts and certain veggie dishes and snacks. Certain things he’s very good at (through practice) so I’m happy for him to make. He used to be quite the baker too - cookies and cakes - but we don’t eat that stuff anymore.

In a perhaps unusual role reversal I do all the outside cooking - grill and smoker and bacon making.

Interesting. Good for you! We lived in Texas for 15 years and fell in love with Central Texas BBQ while we were there. So when we moved to the Oregon coast in 2018, with no BBQ joints around to scratch the itch, DW of course thought getting me a pellet smoker would be a wonderful Christmas gift! (She called it "enlightened self-interest".)

Our deal is that DW does cleanup.

It started when we were full time RVing. DH is quite the nature photographer so he would be out late afternoons chasing wildlife. I decided to learn outdoor cooking which he didn’t have time for and fell in love with it. I noticed other campers doing all this outside cooking and realized I needed to learn as it was the obvious thing to do while camping.

Stayed with me when we moved to a house and then I seriously upgraded the equipment plus later got a pellet smoker. That was another awesome leap in great food.

The young wife cooks most nights, although I do any necessary meat grilling or smoking. I grow the vegetables and do the majority of the grocery shopping. I am also on permanent KP duty (even on the occasions when I cook everything)

DW does most dinner cooking, although we grill a lot and I'm the main griller. She does the sides, or the whole dinner if not grilling I occasionally cook dinner.

I always cook breakfast, mainly because DW rarely eats breakfast.

In college as a self supporting student I learned to cook if I wanted good food. Also worked well to impress the girls. No real money to afford going out to eat.

What we do could barely be called cooking. Making a big salad for me and a sandwich for her or nuking a frozen meal or warming up a can of veggies are not really cooking. We do occasionally fix a meat loaf (she does that) or fix a pot roast (we share the duties on that with me fixing the potatoes and carrots, onion, etc.)

Last cooking was Tuesday and she made Jimmy Dean sausages with scrambled eggs for dinner. Great stuff.

I do virtually all of the clean up after every meal. YMMV
