Who wears a wedding ring

Interesting how many that have posted don't wear a wedding ring. I was thinking I would be pretty much a loner not wearing one.

When I was working, I always wore my rings. After retiring, I only wear the rings for special occasions or when we are traveling. DH told me when we got engaged that he did want a ring because he worked a lot with his hands. So, we did not "exchange" rings during the ceremony and he has never worn a ring. He still managed to lose part of a finger at a job a few years before he retired.

Stopped wearing my ring after a couple years. Working in and around electronic circuits and electrical wiring was one reason.
The other was I didn't like wearing it. Don't like wearing watches either.

OK not ALL the time. Most of it though.
I'm sure it's happened to you as often as to me (heh, heh, 50+ years without a wedding ring - and so far zero hits - unless maybe I'm dense or something.)

My best HS buddy (and best man) fortunately only weighed 125 lbs. He caught his wedding ring on something at w*rk and hung by it for several seconds. Lots of bruising and cutting, but no permanent injury. I outweighed him many pounds and that was just one more reason I never wanted to wear a wedding ring.

Hey let me have my dreams!

I still wear my gold band but it will slip off if my hands are cold.

Yep, I had a chill last night and they started slipping off my finger.

90 degree off topic question:

Does anyone here pay attention to wedding bands on OTHER's hands? I rarely do. I NEVER look to see if someone is wearing a wedding band. IOW I never look to see if someone is married (or not.) I might notice a wedding band - especially if it is flashy enough (or an engagement "rock" if it's big enough) but I just don't "look" for it.

When I knew a friend, or child of mine, was getting engaged, I would pay attention to the brides rings. Once in a while I might notice a woman with (what I consider) a beautiful or unique set, and if so, I will compliment her. I can't remember noticing a man's ring.

I’m on my third one…same wife 37 years.
Lost, broke, bought third one couple years ago

Not married but was skimming this thread to see if anyone mentioned switching to silicone rings.

I see them quite a bit IRL and was wondering if they were comfortable especially when they get wet from hand washing.

They are quite cheap so I might try one next time I'm in a shopping mood.
I have 6 silicone bands that I purchased about 10 years ago. I have 1 plain gold band that I wore when we 1st married, but almost lost my finger when it got hung in a pallet i was throwing off a platform on my job. I can still wear it if we are going someplace special, otherwise I wear the silicones.

Tangential topic, don't search degloving caused by a ring. Unless you have a strong resistance to injury pictures.

I wish my fingers wouldn't swell in the heat and when I'm taking walks. Then I'd wear my ring much more often. But I can't stand the feeling of that confinement on my finger when it gets tight. In the cold it can feel fine. Do I have a psych problem?:)

DW and I wear our wedding bands. I used to take my off to lift weights but haven’t for a decade.
We decided for her not to wear her diamond engagement ring anymore because the Bay Area is garbage re: crime and punishment .Alot of people are robbed of jewelry on the street or followed home.

A good friend of mine does not wear one. His ring finger is missing. He lost the finger while being a good Samaritan and rescuing someone from a terrible truck accident. His wedding ring caught on the wreckage and took the finger with it.

Ew what a terrible mental picture you gave me!

While Late wife was alive I wore my late father's wedding ring from 1928 given to me by mother. No, not on my figer, it was next to my original dog tag from 1967, hanging around my neck. Had my fingers in may hazardous areas, mechanical or high voltage. I preferred to keeep them.

After wife died, gave ring to my older niece to pass it to her son. Unfortunately he is to damm fat amd it won't fit, so she is wearing it.
Maybe there will be a grand kid of hers to actually make use of it.

The dog tag? It was and is to remind me every morning when puttin it on not to do stupid $hit. Still wear it every day.

Couldn't wear my ring for the first 20 years for safety reasons, but have worn it ever since I got into another line. Like several others, I lost my original band while swimming in a cold lake shortly after we were married.

LOL!!!!

Was without a wedding ring for about a month in last 34 years. My first ring fell off on a cold days fishing and is now at the bottom of a lake, felt just horrible that day, thank God my bride took it all in stride.

Wish I had my original ring, we were poor and started with nothing when I got it. The new one is basically the same simple gold band but it's not the same.

We have been married 38 years now. I did wear a wedding band for about a year and never could get used to it. I just don't like wearing jewelry of any sort. I do wear a watch...and it serves an important purpose. My wife does wear her band.

As to jewelry in general...I don't understand how all those people can wear ear rings in their noses, tongues and other places. I just don't get it. If pushed I might try a bone thru the nose...

Married in 1987 and worn a ring pretty much all that time. Except a couple of times when it had to come off because of injury or wasp stings (I tend to swell up quite a bit from insect stings and it can get very scary if I don't remove the ring quickly enough...)

As making jewelry is a long-time hobby, I made our wedding rings & DW's engagement ring out of some gold nuggets I had panned years earlier. Found a great deal on a 2.2-carat D-clarity VVS1 diamond, & we've been wearing our rings for the past 46 years. Mine doesn't even come off for surgery.

I had a beautiful men's ring with 3 small diamonds. Loved wearing it, and loved being married.

Sadly DW unceremoniously dumped me after 20 years, so I haven't worn it since 2010. Unfortunately I never had @motley's problem, no babes hitting on me ...
