Hello FIRE land. Everything that I can find states that the 2025 Medicare B premium is $185 per month. My Medicare B premium is $180 per month. I cannot figure out why. I am not on any public assistance and am not subject to IRMAA. I do use a Medicare Advantage plan, but I doubt that would account for the $5 difference, it didn't last year. Does anybody have an answer to save me trying to call Medicare?

My brother has a Humana Med Advantage plan and gets his Medicare B paid for by Humana except $10.30 monthly.
Hard to imagine a plan only giving a $5 monthly discount.

I understand not wanting to call, but how about logging on to medicare.gov?

One possibility is the”hold harmless” provision. It limits the increase in a Medicare B premium if thr full increase were to reduce the SS pension.

I do have a Humana Advantage plan. In my Medicare account it has "part B premium reduction Yes". If Humana gives me a $5 deduction (whoopee) so be it. However, I did not get a reduction last year. That is what added to my confusion.

I randomly chose zip code 81424 in western CO. The Humana Choice PPO has a $5 Part B premium reduction for 2025. The amount, if any, varies by zip code and can change each year.

Thanks for locating this. Being fairly new to Medicare I find them mind boggling. 🤔
True, but so much better than the alternative - looking for HI coverage on the open market at my age. I'll take the "mind boggling" and let the small stuff slide. YMMV
