Will the fleecing ever end

I thought I had a pretty good deal with AAA (we're in Indiana and I've had AAA for eons ... like 15+ years). The first independent agent didn't improve this much, but the second one put us with Safeco for 40% less. She has a plan for homeowners next September (Erie).

No car insurance would be illegal in most if not all states.
I was thinking collision and other add ons to liability - depends on whether you can afford that approach. Many here are going naked on LTC, for instance.

Up 41% !!! No claims

How much did each of the coverages go up? Like if comprehensive went way up, it's probably because they're having to recoup losses due to weather events, or maybe a major weather event. I don't think that would be considered fleecing.

Maybe try a new state...........
I got plenty of money to afford living here. That's not a problem. I'm sure every other state has as much or more examples how they are being fleeced. It's not confined to just California.

It's well documented what's driving insurance premiums to increase much greater than inflation. And it's been discussed here before.

It's not simple fleecing. Some areas have become uninsurable, wildfires, hurricanes, floods, etc. - imagine being one of those homeowners? Yet many of those homeowners want to rebuild in those areas...we all pay for that to some extent.

That said, we should all be shopping insurance annually. The days of set it and forget it are over.

I've shopped insurance in the past. There wasn't much of a difference in price. Of course, I was only sticking with 3 of the major players. I never even considered the random off brand insurance company. I'd rather pay more with a big player and have the company actually insure my stuff if or when the time comes. Never had a problem either geico or nationwide.

I was in a fender bender approx 2 years ago. Other parties fault, minimal damage. They had some fly by night insurance. Took months to get the $500 check from them. It was nearly impossible to speak with someone. It was bad. After that experience I said I would never use a company like this to insure anything of mine.

Cars are significantly more expensive to repair than in the past. With the safety features people are more likely to survive crashes driving up medical costs and creating work for lawyers. In my area, it seems like every other highway billboard is advertising for injury lawyers.

Houses are bigger and have more features. I grew up in a house with two shared bathrooms and us kids shared bedrooms. Now kids have their own bedroom and bathroom. This drives up home insurance.
