Not after seeing this unhappy robot.....

That was caused by bad programming, not a robot realizing artificial consciousness as everyone wants to believe. Regardless, I'd say we're a long, long way off from humanoids living in our world. But there are a lot of people in the AI space that truly believe AI will cure most fatal diseases within the next 30 years. I think we would all welcome such.

Yes! DW & I are both retired engineering managers, & she has already set aside $25K to buy a robot to help with cleaning, etc.

I’m in my 50s. My mom is in 91.

I’m hopeful that self driving cars, robots, ai, etc all me to maintain a level of freedom that has started to constrain her.

She is fortunate to have the circumstances where she can pay someone to clean her house, take her to the grocery store and put it away. She has local kids who take her to the doc, etc.

Many, many people do not have that.

Hopefully the automation advances to where we have more freedom of action in our later years than the typical person does today.

We have a problem raising our human offspring and teaching them to do and be right. Do we have the capacity, forethought, and knowledge to make robotic entities that will even live and interact with us in a humane way? Will we wither away not doing for ourselves and relying on something/someone to do and even think for us? I plan on doing and thinking for myself as long as I can!
