WIN10 laptop ... update to WIN11?

I have a Lenovo laptop, about 3 yrs old, which runs WIN10. I keep getting reminder to update to WIN11 for free.
I also have a 1yr old Dell desktop that came with WIN11 already installed. It has run fine and I haven't seen any issues with WIN11.
I have read that MS will stop supporting WIN10 in 2025.
Now, I am thinking of going ahead and updating my laptop to WIN11. This way, at least, my two WIN machines will have the same OS.
I would of course run a backup before doing this.

Any gotchas to consider about this? Horror stories?
A dumb idea ??

I can't think of any "gotchas" or horror story scenarios to be wary of. I would make a full backup of your data (including a disk image) and then go ahead with the upgrade. As you have seen firsthand with your Dell desktop, Win 11 is a solid OS that should not be avoided except in very narrow, niche, user-specific edge cases.

I have a two-year-old LENOVO laptop and run WIN11 just fine on it. I even prefer the EDGE browser over my past preferences of Firefox and Chrome using WIN11. Plus, I use Phone Link on my laptop, where my phone and laptop are bluetoothed together. I get my phone calls, texts, message right on my laptop.

Win 11's Recall saves copies of everything you do and see, keypresses, screen displays, etc. You might read up on that to see if you want it. Like other Windows features, it probably can't be turned off without it turning itself back on.

Windows 10 support ends October 14, 2025. Do the update at your convenience.

If you really really want Win10 for more time you could use the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 version with extended support until Jan 13, 2032.

I went ahead and upgraded my laptop to WIN11. It was painless and WIN11 is running clean. I tried running a handful of apps and no surprises. Yay!

It did take over an hour to complete everything.
