wireless mesh router?

Your T-Mobile service may not be the best, but if it’s working well for you and you don’t mind rebooting often, it might not be worth looking for other ISPs in your area.
Unfortunately, our neighborhood was not set up with any service, so it is this or satellite. So far we have been ok with Tmobile. I may try to see about updating my router. I have to complain about "overheating" in order to get them to change it (guy on customer service line gave me that advice).

I'm pretty close and they recently updated tower. I haven't tried to update to new Tmobile router, maybe that is next

But pretty close means what? Not being argumentative, but it seems to me there could be environmental reasons for the disconnect. Or as the video says, you will get disconnects. The tech is great, but not mission critical IMO.

The position of the gateway in your home is important. I don't have that, but I can imagine it gets dicey depending on the specific environment.

Even if you don't know it, you're a system admin and network manager who works for free.

I was in the IT field since 1980. For the last 14 years before my retirement, I worked as a Systems Analyst overseeing a virtual farm. I’ve never worked as a network administrator, but I know enough to manage the basics.

Yep. It's interesting to compare home problems with business ones. I worked as a consultant with smaller companies from 1995 to about 2015. I dealt with technical issues and other problems that others usually could not solve. I also serviced the homes of the owners, so I got to see the interesting work performed by electrical contractors and others. I also wrote technical manuals for various industries (defense, manufacturing, telcom), from 1980 to 2020 or so.

Now I'm just a reitred guy on the internet, helping people understand that you must examine all levels of the problem. In order to understand the complexity, you must understand the parts.

Where is your T-Mobile Gateway situated in your home? Is it close to a window that faces the tower? If it’s not, can you relocate it to a window that is?

I can't say Ookla is wrong, but I was recently told that it was designed when 100Mbps was high speed.
I did find almost 3 times the speed when I went to WOW! Internet Speed Test
Try these, or a bunch others. Fast.com doesn't seem to measure up to wow or infinity. But it does depend on distance from you/me.

I haven’t worked with home users much over the past 20 years, but since retiring, I’ve had the chance to engage with a few. It’s been enjoyable and has inspired my creativity.
