I understood that slow motion (VAR) review is not supposed to be used for Red Cards as frame by frame can confuse incidental with intent.

Also, a Red card on Ronaldo was quashed during the qualifying play. Shouldn't be different in World Cup or regular play.

Soccer is not other games.

The referee does not suspend players, the player's actions do that when they commit a serious foul as specified by the LOTG.

Just because some upstart thinks it was not a foul because they "think " they know this stuff, which they do not, does not make it different. I think Baligun should follow the rules. If America wants to shirk the rules, they do not deserve to win. They may be able to do that at home, but not on the world stage in the real world. And I support the US team. If they cannot win without him, they have bigger problems. England managed to win with 10 players. The USA should put their big boys pants on and move on.

It should be noted that the team themselves do not see to be complaining, at least I do not think so, others should take their lead.

Belgium had already won a friendly 5-2 in March in Atlanta. It looked like I was watching a replay.

It was good that the star US striker player played after all as now there are no excuses. The better team won. With that said, the US team had a proud run and now is back to reality.

No two ways about it, the US team crapped themselves and the bed last night.

I believe last nights loss was worse than any in the past. World Cup, home soil, as many eyes on the game as ever, and they put on a clown performance. Instantly confirming that after 30 some years, the USMNT is still a third tier program at best. Any goodwill and possible conversion of folks to the game of soccer was lost last night with that performance. Proving that nothing has changed and the US's best athletes still play basketball and football and not soccer.

I was sad about the loss but realistically it was expected. Soccer (err….. futball) is getting more popoluar every years. But, it has to compete with Football, Baseball, and Basketball for the best athletes, money and time. So I am not expecting a WC trophy in my lifetime. Besides, think of poor Italy. Three years in a row of not qualifying for the WC games. And futball is VERY important in that country.

People from all over the world globe enjoyed the games together and had a lot of fun.
