Our somewhat spur-of-the-moment travel and stay in central Ohio to experience the 2024 total eclipse. It was the first time we ever saw a total eclipse, and possible (likely) the last. Being with friends who also traveled to the same area, and meeting others there was priceless.

Bought a 77” Sony OLED TV, and updated my golf clubs. Driver, 2 fairway woods, a hybrid and all my wedges.

A 3 week camping trip from N. Ga. to Niagra Falls was a good trip for us. We have been doing one big trip a year since we retired. We are planning a cruise for 2025 and will probably do more "local" camping trips instead of longer ones.

Winter trip to Mexico, spring trip to Morocco, fall trip to Mexico.

Mine has to be the a bunch of white oak trim work within the house, including a 20 ft beam at the apex of the great room, 600 linear feet of 6" crown molding, some wainscot paneling, window casing and valances, misc trim work. Carpenter is coming back on Monday to instead caps on all doors ways and then I might be done.

Re the medicare coverage for scooters and ebikes with prescription. Medicare covers one mobility device every five years. So if you use it up on an e-bike and then need something super expensive like a power wheelchair you will be out of luck. ( a power chair is 10s of thousands- even 50k depending on custom features). Most people don’t need one but when you do you really need it

A 2007 Honda Element EX. A quirky car, some say ugly, but VERY versatile Always wanted one. It was an itch I had to scratch.

Porsche Cayenne. Best car I ever drove, so much fun. Especially when I take it to my ranch about two and one half hours North of San Francisco in the Anderson Valley wine district. That twenty something miles of twisty rural road is a treat. It attracts all kinds of sports cars and motorcycles.

First class ticket from Las Vegas to NYC to visit my bonus mom (AKA birth mom).

We found each other through 23 & Me almost 6 years ago. She came out to see us 5 years ago and arrived the week after my adoptive mom broke her leg and needed a rod installed, which was an interruption to her hospice status. Needless to say I was distracted during my bonus mom's visit.

Spending a few days as a tourist in NYC with her as tour guide was so rewarding. I was able to meet some of her closest friends and see why she's been in Greenwich Village since the 70's. Her primary career had been as a stage actress. I was floored by seeing her portfolio of photos, both head shots and cast photos. Wonderful to see her as a younger, vibrant woman and get a glimpse into those years we didn't know about each other.

Second favorite purchase was a MacBook Pro. I've been a PC guy since 1983 and this is the last step of becoming an Apple guy. Learning a new system is good for my brain health too.

Kind regards,
Chris

My favorite was our new car, a Mazda CX-5. Not so much for the car, but that it allowed us to take two long driving vacations, one to Florida, and one to Northern New England and Quebec. Since my wife's ability to handle long distance car travel is fading, even as a passenger, it seems important to do them while we can.

Though I wonder whether she might do better in an upscale model of EV. We already take enough breaks that charging en-route wouldn't delay our trips.
