Our 45 minute walk in the ‘hood on a bluebird Sunday morning.
What did you see on your walk today?

Nice walk before the smoke got too heavy.

Walked over to the to see the winner of the Western States running race come through the finish line.

Race starts at Palisades Ski resort near Lake Tahoe and 100 miles later ends at the local high school track. Cumulative
total climb of roughly 18,090 feet and a total descent of nearly 22,970 feet.

Winning time was a course record at 13 hrs and 46 minutes. Early the next morning my neighbor, an experienced amateur racer, came in a just under 24 hrs.

Been traveling over the last few days and stopped for a few minutes in Medora North Dakota as we were heading back west to get home to Montana. Took a picture of Theodore Roosevelt statue while we were trying to find a bathroom. The place was jammed with people!!! A busy place.

I forgot to take a picture this morning. We have a nice walking path on the river. People crabbing, sometimes eagles diving on bait fish, neigbors. Round trip with 4 laps is just over 2 miles.

Pretty sure I saw the lady who on Saturday tried to tell the Commissioner in Charge that the way I exhaled (gasped?) was equivalent to telling her she couldn't vote. She was walking two dogs and I'm pretty sure she didn't recognize me. I understand that folks are very sensitive about voting these days, but ma'am when an election commissioner exhales, there's a huge probability that it has nothing to do with you.

She waived as she was trying to keep her dogs orderly. I half waived and said, "huh". Also, my lab-pit-catahoula's tail was wagging because she wants all stranger humans to pet her but wants to eat their dogs. "No, Ava, No!!!"

Woke up to the ground covered in ash. Air is a bit clearer though.

I walk a road separated from the golf course by more scrub than most hackers want to experience, so I usually see 2-5 refugee balls. I have quite a collection for someone who doesn't play any more.

Just a five-minute walk from our house is a beautiful lake with a 2.5-mile loop around it. About half of the trail is paved, while the other half is a natural surface, giving you the best of both worlds.

Just a mile from our home is the Chattahoochee River, where you can enjoy hikes ranging from a quick 10-minute stroll to full-day adventures.

The Chattahoochee river's headwaters begin at a spring near Chattahoochee Gap in the Mark Trail Wilderness of North Georgia. The spring is located directly on the Appalachian Trail, the famous 2,190-mile footpath that stretches from Springer Mountain, Georgia, all the way to Maine.

Having both a lake and one of the country's most iconic hiking areas practically in our backyard is one of the many reasons we love living here.

See the lake below. It's very typical here to have water, tall trees, and plenty of shade in many trails.

Wow, I didn’t realize they had dark banding on their tail like a rattlesnake does.

I don't walk. Neuropathy. I biked to Summerfest in Milwaukee. Stopped to see 10000 Maniacs. Free. Huge crowd there. I don't walk to the other 12+ stages that are going on all day and night. of the 600 or so bands, Ed Sheeran played here. He could have filled Brewers Stadium if he wanted. Lots of big names.

Walked/rode those same paths many times. Ate many mozzarella marinaras at Summerfest. A few late night smooch feasts at Bedford Beach.

A Gila Monster! I grew up in southern Arizona and only saw one once even though I spent endless days turning over junk looking
For snakes.

This was my 3rd one on my property this year. I have a 3 foot hardware cloth 6 inc buried fence around an acre where my house sits.

The second one was last week, it climbed the fence and got in.

Do they still cut off the clock at 24 hours?

30 hours is the cut-off, and they no longer cut off the clock and blow a horn at that point. Finishers after that get a medal at the finish line, but not a buckle, and they are not listed in the results as a finisher. I don't know what year they kept the clock running.
