So what is your picture from your Day?? Here is one from a camera I installed a few days ago to get some wild turkey pictures but got this guy and a rabbit in the same picture.

Went hiking, saw several bald eagles almost out of camera range, and caught a muskrat having a snack.

Caught him after a feeding swim the other morning, I'm pretty sure he is not frightened by me walking by and taking a photo being within 15 feet of him.

No, obviously used to people. If you do frighten one, they fly off with a loud croak of annoyance.

Accidentally flushed one last year. Frighten him? Not as much as he spooked me.

Those are powerful wings that move a lot of air!

Yep - generally the case. But if they are stalking some prey (fish) and if you're more than 50' away, they will stick around in an effort to get a meal.

Or if they have meal in their mouth that is too big to swallow or fly off with - then they'll stick around also.

Perhaps not frighten, but it decided to move away from you. They have a pretty slow lift off and super slow wing beats. Very interesting bird. Successful too in a wide range of habitats/climates as we’ve seen them all the way from Central America to Alaska.
