Turning 50 in a couple of months
Close to promotion but not sure I want it - much more $ at stake
Have an Alpaca farm our family enjoys - tough call
Any advice

Welcome to the forum.

Are you thinking of retiring and living on/running the Alpaca farm? If so, how do the finances look to do that?

Choosing between a work promotion/relocation and your non-work life is a very personal decision. For me, I came to a point in my work life that I just knew it was time.

I've found this to be helpful at times:

+1. There's just no universal answer, and you'll probably always have some doubts. But when you decide, your doubts will be overrun by your convictions to retire IME - and that seems common to most posts here IIRC. IOW, you'll be the first to know...

This is pretty cryptic. Any advice is bound to be uninformed.
