For what it is worth, while I never bought an AMD processor. Not only did own a Mac, but I used it in the office for creating datasheets for Intel microprocessors.
Me too, although we left our imac at home. A few years later we were able to foist it off on someone else for a fair price.

Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful. Just another form of "buy low, sell high" for those who have trouble with things. This rule is not universal. Do not buy a 1973 Pinto because everyone else is afraid of it.
