+1 on the Vanilla Fudge version of 'Keep me hangin' on', and I have not seen this yet:
I'd sing along in the car (have it on my thumb drive), and the lyrics were confusing to me. I finally studied them, and interestingly, it seems the "you" changes throughout the song.
In the first verse, she sings about the "you" that is her ex-lover:
Feeling better now that we're through ..... Now I see how you really are...
Then the chorus, she sings
"You're no good", but as you read on, is she describing the ex-lover, or herself? Seems obvious it is the ex-lover, but...
I broke a heart that's gentle and true
Well I broke a heart over someone like you
I'll beg his forgiveness on bended knee
I wouldn't blame him if he said to me
You're no good
So at the end, she's saying that she is no good, because she broke the heart of her previous (nice guy) boyfriend to see the (now -ex) 'bad-boy'.
Am I overthinking it, or was that obvious?
