Happy New Year everyone...

Whatcha toasting to? and with?

I'm toasting to a happy healthy family, peace (in my head) and more compassion and patience (all mostly in my head)...

I'm toasting with a giant bottle of belvedere from costco...:whistle:we have cola, oj and cranberry/raspberry (not all at once) to mix with...:greetings10::greetings10::greetings10:

Wishing you all a blessed 2010...2010~!

woops, just saw goonie's thread, maybe they can be merged...

Tried some Pear Cider - ick!

Already toasted with sangiovese over dinner earlier - so it's OK.

Just glad to be parked for the night! (another Walmart sleepover)

With:

  • Me, myself, and I
To:

  • Three healthy and happy kids
  • Good health
  • Good friends
  • A good job with great pay
  • Lots of financial goals achieved this year
  • A safe, warm house with enough of what I need
My life isn't all rosy, but lately I've had some conversations with some co-workers -- one has a possible tumor and can't sell his house in another state, another was hospitalized for mental health issues recently. Whatever that old saw is about being sad for not having any shoes until I met a man with no feet.

We toasted with white wine at dinner and then again watching the ball drop . It is really time for Dick Clark to retire !

For once, DW and I both made it to midnight and watched the ball drop. Usually we're asleep by then - real party animals, huh?

Toasting the same things we did at Thanksgiving - the fact that we have no major health or financial problems, families are generally in good shape, although a couple have had rude awakenings that their past spending habits cannot continue.

Ain't that the truth. I always liked the guy but you would think some one close to him would tell him it's time to watch the ball drop from in front of his fireplace. Pretty sad to watch.

Went out with friends last night for a steak dinner at a nice restaurant. Me being the cheap old bastard that I am..... ordered the least expensive one on the menu, a petite fillet. A steak about the size in the pic below. Came with a small salad and a huge bake potato(thankful for that). No drinks and total cost with required 20% tip.....$40. Next year I'm going to opt for the free dinner at my country club.:-\

Exciting New Years Day for us!

We got to see a Bare-throated Tiger Heron. First US Record for this bird and a world life bird for us. First time we've ever seen a US Record bird too!

Got home to Mission TX at 1:30p.m. today. Set up RV at campsite. Hopped on the bikes and headed to Bensten State Park. Stumbled across a group of people standing around with a spotting scope - and saw the bird!

Obviously, it was waiting to welcome us back to The Valley!
