How old are your cars?

3 2005 Chevy Avalanche
6 2002 Porsche Boxster
35 1973 Porsche 911
37 1971 Porsche 911

My vechicles are a total of 81 years old.

1998 Toyota Camry 175K
2000 Toyota Avalon 99K
2004 Toyota Van 25K

2003 GMC Sierra 4WD pickup 57k miles
2003 Buick Century 78k miles

Both purchases planned years in advance and replaced a pickup and car that were 18 and 14 years old respectively. Like Hankster, wondering if parts will be available if GM goes belly-up.

About to buy a motorcycle, probably a 2008 Suzuki C90T if I can't find anything decent used and nobody else buys it off the floor first.

I had a 67 Chevelle SS convertible when I was in my early 20's. It had the high output 396. My best friend's dad worked as a manager at an auto parts store, so we juiced it up.

By the time we got done (not bored out), it was running 440 bhp........:D

That you sold, like a fool! :) For something so frivolous as college tuition!

I've got a 76 Airstream motorhome, an 84 Chevy pickup, an 84 Mercedes Diesel, a 1996 Saturn and a 1997 Saturn. Yep, just two of us.

Watch the springs on this car. IIRC there is a recall for the front springs, but the rear ones tend to break, too. When the spring breaks, the sharp end can shred the tire quickly. Ford "fixes" this by recalling the car and putting a shield in there to stop the tire from being shredded (front springs only). If the spring actually breaks within a certain warranty period (10 years, 110K miles??) they will replace it. A quick look under the car near the front struts will reveal if the shield has been added.

Toyota Highlander 2005 bought used now has 72K miles

A BBC '67. Oooooooooo...hubba hubba.

I think mine puts out something simliar or a bit less (it's not terribly radical) , but it does me no good becuase I can't plant it. Up in smoke she goes.

...and as much I love me Chivvies... I'd love an M5 Bimmer.

Buy American!!

His: 2006 Ford Mustang GT convertible
Hers: 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche Z-71
Ours: 1995 Jeep Wrangler (for sale)

Both 06's bought and paid for right before we retired. Should last a good while.

T-Al, thought about getting a small utility trailer for your car? My cousin did this so they only have one car -- a VW GTI. Works great for them, and they do a lot of lumber/firewood/rock hauling with it. You might have to do two smaller loads, but you'd save money on registration, insurance and gas so would probably come out ahead.

That's a great idea, but I think our little Toyota Echo would freak if we attached a trailer to it.

2004 Dodge Ram Hemi Pickup (Purchased New)
1995 Lincoln Mark VIII (Auction Car Cost $3k about 6? years ago)

1996 sedan...bought used (still has less than 60k miles, believe it or not).
2009 minivan...bought new (in part, b/c of Uncle Sugar's Cash for Clunkers...old minivan was 9 years old with over 120k).
