In less than 11 months I expect to be mostly retired but I may be able to do some well-paid, part-time consulting if I'm able to access .5 GB of files per day (different .5 GB each day). Have any of you road warriors here had any experience accessing this much data while away from the office? Preferably without risk of arrest.

Porn, on the other hand (no joke intended), can be managed with an external drive.

Prepare for the future. Everything changes.

One technology that is being rolled out and will free us from the cables is 802.16 or WiMax. Although its primarily being rolled out right now for fixed antenna applications (homes & offices). I have heard that laptop cards are now available but national coverage is not available yet and the cards are very power hungry. It's not nearly ready for ER life on the road but 5 more years and connectivity should be nothing short of amazing.

I actually watch a lot of videos on youtube. I'm a gamer, so I like to watch what stunts other people have performed in games like GTA San Andreas, GTA 3, FarCry, etc. I can't wait for CRYSIS to come out this fall!! I also watch a lot of instructional tennis videos. I don't know if that would be considered using a lot of transferring of bytes, because I think watching most of those videos is done from their own website, not downloaded to my pc, but I may be wrong. I also like watching a lot of the crazy stuff people capture on video, like these: This is one of the funniest jump attempts ever - ouch!

This one is cool also. This skydiving "instructor" accidentally fires his flare gun into his opened parachute, and then barely gets his reserve open in time - whew! I went skydiving once, and my guts hurt for a week afterwards because of the stress of the whole experience. I thought I was gonna die for sure, especially when my chute starting spinning like a swing set, wrapping tighter and tighter until it binds up, but then I reached up and pulled out on the cords, and it unwound. It was quite pleasant after that! Especially passing through the clouds and actually feeling the moisture trapped in the clouds. Any way, here's the skydiving instructor video:
