Hi Everybody,

My mom is going to be retiring at the end of the month at the age of 70. She didn't care to retire early - she enjoyed the human interaction with her colleagues. But she wants to start spending more time with her grandchildren.

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on a gift I can get her? Something appropriate for someone who is retiring?

A cell phone or perhaps passes to places that she and the grandchildren can go?

that's exciting, wish my mom would consider it - she is still 5 years out from full retirement from post office...

Books she's waited to read?

Hobby she enjoys (like paint set for example)

enroll her in classes for hobby?

If you and your family or other siblings can get together. I'd suggest a get together (nice dinner) and then do a show and tell of past family memories tied into things she had done for you over the years.

We did something similar to this with our family for Christmas, rather than exchange gifts and it turned out to be a wonderful time for everyone.

Have a party for here, immediately. My dad retired in 1989 and my mom is still planning his party.
