Part of my retirement regimen is to go to the gym. I'm there 1 to 2 hours every day. It's an opportunity to get the endorphins moving and also socialize a little.
Anyway, I have noticed a lot of new people. They start coming in just before New Years day. The regulars wager that most will be gone by tax day; and some a lot sooner.
The gym makes money, of course. And the newcomers really intend to lose weight or get in shape. Somehow, they never do. We can then look for them back next year.
BTW I used to make New Year's resolutions; work harder, be more decisive, learn something new, get up 15 minutes earlier, blah, blah, blah. It didn't work for me, either.
