Re: News of OAP?

TromboneAl,
Thanks for remembering me and asking. I assure you the rumour (English spelling) of my demise is under-rated.

I just visited NYC to rent a condo and saw your likeness on the marquee in Times Square or maybe it was Letterman. In a little club around the corner at 330 W. 48th St. some dudes were playin Albert Collins "I Ain't Drunk, I'm just Drinkin" and they added a trombone player to the mix but I noticed that he couldn't play fourth line bass clef to fourth line treble clef, so I knew it wasn't you.

There's a large guitar shop on 50th St. (I think) and they will let you play any of the used equipment they sell so I spent some time doing Coco Montoya's "I Can't Get My A$$ in Gear" and Joe Bonomassa's "Faux Martini" for the crowd of 3. But it was a 1960's Les Paul Classic with Tobacco Burst finish and so it may have sounded a little slow. $2,999 seems like a bargin.

As for me, thanks for asking, I'm doing well with all things healthwise, and still trying to find my way home. As a very good friend pointed out
Søren Kierkegaard felt he was an exception to life and a solitary wanderer, maybe I'm just lost. I musta got lost

I read the board but feel like I outlasted my over-stay.

Looks like you had a great time in Hawaii.

And mja, are you mj, if so, how is the wandering going?

To all, if ever in NYC look me up, if I haven't been killed by then I'll gladly show the city, which according to sources, nearly everyone is carrying.
Cheers,
OAP

EDIT: Several mist speelings?

OAP -

I read your blog frequently, but I must have missed this. A while back I thought you had a picture up of a building in Chicago that you were going to live in starting this spring. Am I remembering correctly?

OAP, good to hear from you. The prodigal cyperpatient, back in his groove.

Where'd you get the idea you overstayed your welcome here? Jump in.

Re: News of OAP?

gindie,
You are correct and thanks for reading the blog, it's kinda fun to put pictures of SF and info about this wild place for others to see. A great city. The last month I'm here I want to take 100 pictures per day and some how get them on the internet. It should be fun.

I was thinking of staying here and buying a condo in the new development (Rincon) area South of Market area (SOMA) but most are not due to finish till 2008-2010 and I need a new adventure.

BTW, one of them is going to be 100 floors. Right at the TransBay station.

So, it was either:
1. Try to fake another illness that put me in hospital for a year here.
2. Or move to NYC.

I flipped a Hondurian flour tortilla and it came up burnt side down. So NYC it was.

Still may do a pre-build buy on a condo. Both NYC and SF have way outperformed the housing market. Small amount of land, lots of buyers, hmmmm.

Sorry, I think that would be someone else; though I have enjoyed reading your blog the last few months. Especially enjoyed the entries about minimalist living/packing.

Welcome back OAP. I missed your posts. DW and I visit NYC every few months. Our daughter is up there at NYU. If you will be living there I will look forward to some great off beat suggestions in your blog.

Re: News of OAP?

mja,
the minimalist/packing thing worked great on this trip. I am considering a cross country drive for the move. I vacate here on May31 and can't move-in till Jul 14, and I may rent a scooter or a Cooper Mini, put on a knap sack and head out.

Joe, I'm gonna PM you later. But thanks for the invitation.

donheff, thanks, I certainly will be finding the off beat (my speciality) and I will mo-def(most definintely) keep you posted. They are going to have a nude bicycling parade (like SF does each year) that's always fun If my friend Athena decides to participate, I will definitely be there.

Glad to hear from you.

I was thinking of you because of all the beautiful oriental women I saw in Hawaii.

FinanceDude,
You must've sneaked past without buying the 25cent tokens at the front counter from my manager Guido, sometimes vicarious is dangerous to the SA and AV nodes of the heart, especially when petite Asian women thoughts are flowing into the stream of consciousness.

For $1 per minute dial 1-(Old)-Age-Pensioner

Outtahere, we'll compare trip notes off line. I think our trips were to opposite ends of the Poles. You'll appreciate a couple of things I saw. Just for laughs.

Re: News of OAP?

FinanceDude, yeah, I "settled" on few mid-West farmer's daughters but just never married one, yet anyway.

If you want to hear something that will make you smile, listen to Deirks Bentley(sp?) singing "What Was I Thinking". It's about dating a farmer's daughter and actually very fun song.

NOTE: I suspect TromboneAl's PM Inbox is loaded with irrate emails saying "now look what you started" and "what were you thinking".

Nah, we luvs ya, OAP. The complaints wont start until you start posting suitably salacious pics.

Re: News of OAP?

brewer12345,
you posted that you only went to Atlantic City once, well I went there in 70s and they had a Playboy Casino with nearly topless BJ dealers, errr, make that Black Jack dealers. Oh, and those Smokehouse type almonds had just came out and I must have eaten ten dishes of those per evening.

I was doing dumb things like hitting on 20 and holding at 9, so I might go back when I get settled in NYC.

Ask your dad if they have any topless Casinos. That would draw a nice crowd. Yeah, I'm starting to draw some mental images, having a few tipples and nuts. Or at least some things that rhyme with that.
