NFL

I'm sitting around watching prior SB highlights on Comcast, many of which I recall (how about those 49ers?). It's actually nice not caring which team wins!

We have players on each team we are rooting for, but don't really care which way it goes. Hoping for an entertaining game that isn't a blowout, and that no one gets badly hurt.

Always a good thing. You don't want a close 10-7 kind of game....people will complain about the lack of scoring. I wouldn't want to see a blowout or a 45-40 game either. As long as it's close into the 4th quarter....... although either way.....we are going to hear about the good and bad parts of the game for another week or two afterwards:(

Each team has a player from my Alma Mater. I'm hoping one or both of them will do something good that enhances his team's chances of winning, and that neither does anything so conspicuously awful as to get blamed for the loss.

Denver has a player from our alma mater. Seattle has a deaf player that DW is cheering for. And beyond that there are just guys I like and guys well, not so much.

So, here I was watching the Super Bowl, rooting for Denver. The score is 22-0, Seattle. I'm with Time-Warner cable. There's a commercial on and it freezes and it has stayed frozen. I guess the cable broke. Anyhow, many channels are not working although some are. Home Shopping Network seems to be working. You want me to buy you something?

Wish I was so lucky.

... And frankly I think crowd noise over (say) 100-110 decibels should be a penalty on the home team. Not just as unsportsmanlike conduct, but because it's actually dangerous for the hearing of the fans attending the game...
You're joking, right?

BIRG, CORF. Sums up sports in our house. Of course we have Chicago teams to root for....

All the sports writers here in Chicago are picking Broncos. That is a good sign there will be a celebration in Seattle tonight.
I like this old time football. It taste like a vintage 1986 style championship.

Officially ugly... Maybe the Denver team bus will arrive in time for the 4th qtr.

I didn't want to say anything. But....if you go to something like this....you think it's going to be quiet:confused:

It's why you should wear earplugs. I wish I used them when I was younger, since I'm starting to pay the price. I think part of it is generational though. Back then, you didn't worry about it, but nowadays I'm much more careful, especially with my kids.

Quite the game though. I thought it would be closer, but since I'm rooting for Seattle, I'm glad it's not.

OK, I had to look it up, but here it is (for the few of you who did not know).

"BIRGing is an acronym for Basking in Reflected Glory and CORFing means Cutting Off Reflected Failure."

Best part of this game is the sushi.
MRG

OK, the game is back on. Darn. Anyhow, an esoteric NFL rule states that if the cable goes out, the person who was watching the game can choose to root for the team he was initially not rooting for.

GO SEATTLE!!!

Anyhow, I guess this is a perfect example of Bestwifeever's BOINKing acronym that was mentioned in an earlier post.

GO SEAHAWKS!!!

Manning is a great qb but you just cant stop a jail break. He reminds of Terry Eason tonite. Lets face it he never saw a defense like this all year.

Tony Eason? I used to see him in college. Yes, he was shell shocked by the Bears.

Oh well, a Beat Down of a game

Epic fail! I guess when the snap on the opening play from scrimmage sails into the end-zone for a safety one may have to expect that it is going to be a long night.

That may have been the worst Super Bowl ever, especially considering the buzz about the matchup and how competitive it was expected to be. Yes, I remember the 55-10 Super Bowl (also a beat down of the Broncos at the hands of Joe Montana's 49ers), but this one just felt more unwatchable.

Unless you are a Seahawks fan, of course. :)
