Quest Diagnostics Data Breach

I heard this story today about Quest Diagnostics, the big national testing lab, getting hacked. What was hacked was the personal and financial info from those who pay on line, not the test results.

Ugh, I use them and pay on line. I already have credit freezes after the BCBS/Anthem hack a few years ago.

Retired in late 2008 at age 45. Cashed in company stock, bought a lot of shares in a big bond fund and am living nicely off its dividends. IRA, SS, and a pension await me at age 60 and later. No kids, no debts.

I just assume everything is out there somewhere. I have my credit files frozen and monitor my financial accounts several times a week.

Oh nasty! Another social security number breach! Way worse than credit cards numbers stolen.

I’m already locked down freeze wise.
Retired since summer 1999.

I received two recent invoices from Quest today. I tried to make the payment by phone but the line was swamped.

I think Ill pay these the old way, check via mail, and see what more is learned about the breach and response.

Only 11.9 million in the breach. I am probably in there, but it's just a duplicate record in what is already held in the dark web. USG, Yahoo, etc. have created much more havoc with their poor practices.
