Just hanging up is too good for them.

The poor slob on the other end of the line is just trying to earn his $8.50/hour. No need to be harsh on them. Hanging up does the job and gets them off to their next harassing phone call ASAP.

Yeah, I mostly agree with that, though there is a part of me that wants to make cold-calling jobs so miserable that no one wants to do them for any price...
