It is all part of its history now.

I recall being in Mammoth Caves in Kentucky and being somewhat reverently shown 100 year old graffiti by the park staff. Vandalism then, history now.

I'm sure the art student is quite embarrassed! Remember when Steve Wynn, the owner of the Bellagio, did something similar about five years ago to one of his own Picasso paintings?

I had not read this before. Funny. I do see why he's was at least happy it was he who did the damage than someone else.
