What Did You Eat Today?

Sprouts was having a sale on red and green bell peppers, so I decided to make sausage and peppers and onions for lunch. I used both sweet and hot sausage and cooked it in homemade marinara sauce. The smell is addictive!!!!!

Breakfast today was wheat toast with sugar-free blueberry jam, 2 eggs sunny side up, and reheated fried potatoes from last night.

Dinner will be roasted chicken breasts with California blend vegetables and mashed potatoes with homemade chicken gravy.

It is so nice to plan meals & have the time to cook and enjoy the food. If I never saw another fast-food joint, I don't think I would mind.

Hey, I have made the above dishes several times. And we also have a couple of Sprouts stores here.

I really like Sprouts. They took over the old SunHarvest store and, to my way of thinking, drastically improved it. Good sales and very good quality of food. Never got a bad cut of meat and fruits and vegetables are fresh and tasty.

The menu I mentioned just seemed right for a cold winter day. Prof12

Another +1 for sprouts. I like their 5.00 deli counter sandwiches when I want some simple take-out.

Leftover House Special Egg Fu Yung (shrimp, chicken & pork) and rice. Mr B cooked [-]picked up chinese takeout[/-] last night.
He is doing his weekly Friday night volunteer thing, so he will have fish fry.

Didn't feel so great today so I skipped eating lunch out with F. Instead, I am at home, snuggling in a warm blanket with a cup of hot gumbo for lunch. Those hot spices really have a curative effect on me for some reason.

For breakfast I had a cup of peach herb tea and an apple.

Sorry you're feeling bad. Gumbo is one of those dishes I'm looking forward to eating one day. Prepared and consumed where it originated, of course.:)

Thanks. Yes, I think it probably needs to be prepared and consumed in south Louisiana. Once when on business travel I ordered a cup of gumbo for dinner, at Casino Magic in Biloxi. I thought, "gee, this is only an hour away from New Orleans, how bad could it be?" But I swear it tasted like fish soup prepared with lukewarm dishwater.

Oh, and that's Louisiana for you. Our business meeting was taking place in the casino's conference room. Sure made me nervous due to ethics concerns.

Breakfast: Whataburger Breakfast-on-a-bun (egg,sausage,bun/hash browns) diet coke. Yes, I said DIET coke!

Lunch: Friend treated me to Applebee's since it's my birthday! I had the New Orleans Skillet. Good, very spicy.

Dinner: Nothing yet, I'm still at work, working overtime. Probably going home & having some left-over stew that the friend mentioned at lunch above came over & made for me yesterday! :)

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to you

If you are an Applebee's aficionado, go to their website and register your birthday with them. You will get a coupon for a BOGO deal next year. I believe it's valid for about a month.
I use my coupon every year. :D

Thanks, freebird! I'll do just that!

Breakfast: coffee with cream, home made parfait (blueberries, cereal, Greek yogurt)
Lunch: pan fried tilapia filet, steamed butternut squash and baby carrots (a very orange meal!)
Supper: dufflaghur tea, toasted cinnamon bagel with organic honey

I'm clearing out the fridge. Can you tell? On tomorrow's menu: black bean and beetroot soup (defrosting now), squash with apple sauce, pasta with ham, green peppers and olive oil. May make lentil soup. Then off to the market for some fresh organic veggies! I have definitely spent less than $10 per day on food in the last week and never went near a restaurant. Hooray for ER!

I have not eaten anything today, other than had two cups of coffee.

However, I just finished preparing and marinated some thin-sliced beef for Carne Asada this evening. Just thinking about this makes me salivate already. Or is it because I have not had any food?

I'd better go make myself some lunch.

So far, a cup of peach herb tea and (just now) an orange. It's not even 1 PM here, yet.

This entire week's menu has been designed around clearing up the fridge, freezer, and pantry. I shouldn't have to go to the grocery store until February.

I splurged ($50.00) for lunch today.
A 24oz Argentine Filet Mignon, mashed potatoes and a large Jack Daniels. I am happy that the trend is now pairing whiskey with food (instead of wine) as wine at lunch always put me to sleep.

This is making me hungry! We have not cooked a proper meal at home since mid-December as our kitchen is being remodeled and we have only our current fridge, microwave, and toaster oven available with no utensils, pans, etc. We have been fantasizing about what we will be cooking by the end of February when the work is 100 percent complete. I can't wait to fill the new fridge up!

But Sunday and last night we enjoyed, on our paper plates, a carryout from a little Italian restaurant: freshly-made spaghetti with spinach and mushrooms and chicken in garlic and oil, along with three-cheese polenta.

All this talk about BBQ, I figured I'd post picture of the brisket I made last weekend. It was my first time smoking a brisket, and all I can say is: Brisket has made it to the #1 cut of beef in my books.
