Thanks. Does this mean that a couple could have 500K insured with 2 accounts alternating the primary account holder? I already have 200K CD and was considering buying more at the same entity.

Thanks for this information. I was visiting my Aunt this week-end and this very subject came up in conversation. She is the guardian for my handicapped cousin, keeps cousin's resources in safe insured vehicles as this money pays for her long term care. I knew that the rate was in effect until Oct. 2009 but had not heard about the extension. I will pass on this news.

Thanks! I ran the Eddie calculator and it does indeed insure additional investments in the same institution, in my case I ran a total of 400k in iterest bearing accounts. This extension is indeed great news.
