Doing any amount of root cause analysis of those two graphs and it comes down to lack of savings. Therefore the option is continued work.
I used to have a handle on life....... but it broke!

Agreed... very sad. I have two sets of DH/DW close relatives who feel they will need to work until they die. The little I know of their financial situations leads me to believe they are right. They are close to their adult children so I hope when they truly are no longer physically able to work, they will have a home with one of them and SS will cover their personal expenses. They never saw value in LBYM.. In one case, we had the same mother who always reminded us as kids: It doesn't matter how much you make, it matters how much you keep.
