Woo hoo, I'm done! Last day was yesterday. I slept for 11 hours straight (which I rarely do), and I'll be seeing a community theatre show with my parents this afternoon.

Oddly, I don't feel elated or different. I don't think it'll hit until 2-3 weeks out. Also, I have an ambitious novel writing goal I want to hit, so I guess my mind has already shifted into my new career. I really should give myself a week to decompress, but old go-go-go habits die hard.

Thank you again for helping me through this crazy journey to FI!

Oh my. My BS bucket has overflowed! I was on vacation for four days and apparently I miscalculated when I was getting my floating holidays. I have to take 9 hours without pay. When I told my boss I would come back from vacation early to work the hours on the weekend she texted me back and said no, that they had spent too much time on my time card already and caused a lot of problems. That I need her approval to make up the hours. We are still in our pay period and many people have had their time cards changed on Monday. I told her I couldn't afford the time without pay. Nope, she said she won't let me. First of all, not sure that is legal - I work for a city and I am making up the time during the period in which I took leave and she is therefore denying me the opportunity to make back my money. AND, I hate her right now and just want to retire even earlier than I thought but money wise, not a good idea. She's been mad at me since I announced my retirement and said I'm being too gleeful and to tone it down. I did. She thinks I'm not doing my job - which I am. I called the woman who does my time cards and I apologized and she said it was no big deal but that my boss did say she would not let her change my hours on Monday. I'm going into HR on Monday to see if what she did was legal. But how will I last 6 more months with this b*tch? I almost feel like this is her way to make me leave sooner as she now sees me as dead wood. I know she'll call me in on Monday to yell at me. And to top it all off - today is my friggin' birthday!

I would just keep smiling at her like the Chesire cat. I'm sure that will make you feel better and will probably drive her up the wall:LOL:

Thanks DFW! My father taught me that trick when I first started working 35 years ago and it has always worked!

I would just keep smiling at her like the Chesire cat. I'm sure that will make you feel better and will probably drive her up the wall:LOL:

Oh, it will for sure. I and about 10 others have 19 working days left and we all try, sort of, not to [-]gloat[/-] smile too much at the guys who have no choice but to stay in the pandemonium that will result when the contract changes from one company to the next.

It may be best to simply attribute her poor behavior to jealousy that you can retire and she can't. And that will help your smile be brighter and more genuine.>:D

I was the definition of Chesire Cat today, but I'm still out $500 bucks! I did, however, drag out my old voodoo doll I had left from a few years ago and I happily await her hair falling out, her money dwindling, and her divorce...

My last day is 6/27 after 35 years same company. Age 58.

Hi Future beach bum,
I put you ahead of bamsphd. He wanted to be #66.

Okay, so #26 up there, my DH, gave his notice a few weeks ago. They hemmed and hawed about maybe he should take a 3 month sabbatical instead of actually quitting. He was sort of ambivalent about that, needless to say.

Well, the company owner met with his boss yesterday (who was pitching the sabbatical idea) and truly, the quote of the century from the owner: "well, gee, I just don't think we want to hold a job open for him that long, I mean, what happens if he gets eaten by a bear or something?" After a long pause, DH's boss says: "well, I guess he won't be worried about coming back then."

:2funny: :2funny:

So it would appear that my DH is well and truly done with this job as of next Friday and joins you in officially being a part of the class of 2013. And is also free to be eaten by a bear without any consequences of note to his former company.

Sarah,

But was the quote of the year the one from the Boss or the Owner (or both)?

(EDIT: Ok - I reread your post - sorry)

LOL

Yes he would. Poor guy would have to worry about coming back...as that stuff bears do in the woods.:LOL::LOL:

Hope you two enjoy the bus trip!

Some people just have that knack for inspiring commitment and dedication for The Company don't they?
