Considering that we have so many geeks here (as per the thread "What Do/Did You Do?") this might be of interest. A friend of mine who recently collected a large sum in stock options is thinking about this. I haven't looked a lot at it yet but it could be a worthwhile way to spend some of your time.

It would certainly seem to be a way to keep one's mind sharp and active, as long as someone else is doing the potentially backbreaking work. I'm sure that the able bodied residents of a rural village that lacks clean water would be more than happy to do the physical labor, as long as there was someone who can tell them were to drill the well, how to use the drilling equipment, and how to set up the well equipment. The same would go for crop irrigation, etc...
