Well, it been quite a while since I have checked in. This is the first anniversary of my retirement. I am enjoying retirement very much. The boss from my last job has asked me to come back to work every time I have seen him. I can't keep from getting a big grin as I say "No thanks."
I must say that my spending for the first year was considerably more than I expected. Medical was about $5000 more than I had anticipated and rent both for a place to stay last winter in Virginia and for storage both in Virginia and in Colorado were not planned, but they are temporary so they will go away in the future. I'm also approaching 65 so I hope my medical will also go down.
I am now in the Colorado mountains and work on the Hermitage is progressing. The footers are in and the foundation walls were inspected today so they should be poured in the next day or two. Then I will have some prep work to get ready for framing. I have to put footer drains in, water proof the foundation walls, etc. Then the excavator will back fill the trenches around the house and I will be ready to start framing.
I'll check in from time to time to let you know how the Hermitage is progressing. Hope everyone is enjoying retirement as much as I.
