Search function not working

I'm using the regular forum on my Nexus 7 tablet and cannot use the search function. As soon as I tap on the box to type into it the keyboard appears but then the search box immediately disappears. It does the same thing whether I use Chrome or Firefox as the browser. I don't like using the forum app.

Any ideas why?

For what it's worth, I use a Windows PC and Firefox as my browser, and the search function is working OK.
