I bought a new scale Wednesday and it hates me. The other scale was my friend. Until I can come to an understanding with the new scale, I will not post its results. sigh.

Congrats Calgary Girl! That is great, 20 lbs! Awesome!

Puzzley--yeah, I know the feeling!

Well, I started this amazing boot camp class two weeks ago, and it is just what I needed! It's different every day, really focuses on muscle endurance(high reps), and it really kicks my butt. I am trying to get a little core strength built up (from nothing), and then I will add my 30 mins. of jogging back into my routine for my cardio.

I have been trying to eat much better, and am pretty into it. Can't wait to see how I am doing at the end of the session a month from now.

Oh wow, I just went in for my fitness evaluation, and after 9 days of class(11 days total) have passed, I lost 7 lbs already. Holy cow! I guess this was just the shock to my system that I badly needed.

Thanks!

I know what you mean about the scale, except my problem was the opposite. We used to have one of those old fashioned scales with the dial and it was awful. The minute you stepped off, it wouldn't reset back to 0 - it would reset back to 2 or 3 lbs. so it was always giving a heavier reading I LOVE our new scale....

I'm amazed that I haven't gained like 5#. I haven't worked out in like 2 weeks (resumed exercising Monday) and have been eating and drinking anything I want practically. As some of you know, I had to suddenly go out of town due to my father becoming critically ill.

I wonder if stress actually burns more calories somehow? Never heard of it, but I have no other explanation for why I didn't gain a bunch of weight. Or maybe muscle was just replaced by fat

Yuck, fat percentage went up. Last couple of weeks have been bad for healthy eating. This coming holiday weekend will also be bad. I should probably add a weight lifting regimen to my martial arts, but motivation is the tough part there.

SG, yes, sometimes stress can burn calories, in my experience. Also, I have found that I don't always gain weight when I'm not exercising, and am grateful for these inexplicable bonuses!

Hope your dad is doing better, Simple Girl, that really sucks.

So we (what an analytical household) got some weights and found out our new scale is actually WAY off--whew! Taking it back today and resurrected the previously broken one for the time being--weight still up too high, but today (really) at 155 #.
The weekends are getting away from us--too much socializing (read beer and food) to be able to make up for it during the week.

Igsoy, that is awesome! Those boot camp courses are a great way to kick start your weight loss--very cool!
Kronk, just keep it up, the motivation ebbs and flows, and boy do I know it! You are maintaining, so that is better than going up!

Good luck everyone with the Memorial Day weekend holiday--we're doing a "redneck yacht club" sort of weekend at a lake in NC with friends so I'm just going to try to minimize the damage best I can. I'm taking the hula hoop, so at least we'll get a bit of exercise!

I think it can but only if you don't engage in 'stress eating'.

I seem to be maintaining . . . not loosing or gaining. But as the weather improves here I'll get out on my bike and out hiking a lot more, and that'll help.

Sorry about the scale, Sarah....

The core strength improvement from my class is really starting to kick in. Last week I couldn't run more than 2 miles, then yesterday I made it 5 miles (slow pace, but still). I also hit a double over everyone's head in softball, haha. Yay, core!

I am having to be really conscious of my eating because if I eat the minimum maintenance amount, but work out a ton, I get too depleted and have absolutely no energy to work out the next day. So I have actually had to make myself eat more even when I am not hungry, especially protein. It's a delicate balance, it seems.

267-268 depending on the time of day. From the beginning of the year until now, I'm down 18 pounds. A little less than 2 pounds a week, which is about the highest recommended weekly weight loss you should reach for, but I'm happy. I've always loved the feeling of euphoria after an intense workout.

The long weekend involved a whole lot of overindulgence, same as my spike on 4/23. Should be dropping back a few pounds in fairly short order.
