I know it's not Wednesday, but when I saw this number on the scale this morning, I just had to report in. Haven't been this thin since high school. WOW! I'm not trying to lose any more weight at this point. The low carb diet combined with weight training and dancing a lot lately has really taken it off. I'm sure it will come back on b/c I normally don't dance every single day like I did last week. Really happy though to be at my fighting weight! I feel very healthy. Oh, and all my 1.5 year scans came back clear - whoop, whoop!

I don't think I've weighed in (sorry for the pun) here, but I just have to. About 6 weeks ago I saw Michael Mosley's show on PBS about his new book: The Fast Diet. I've lost 10 lbs. in that period of time by "fasting" (~500 calories, 2 days a week). This is something I think I can stick with forever, as maintenance reduces the number of fasting days to once per week.

It has made me realize I won't die if I get a hunger pang, I am more conscious about what I eat on my non-fasting days, and it's helped with cooking/eating issues I was having with DH (long story). Oh yeah, I'm not doing any crazy wild exercise either.

Anyway, just though I'd share. I'll probably start revealing my #age here, just because I need some accountability too.

P.S. I don't work for Michael Mosely, PBS, or Amazon. And yes, I ran this past my doctor - she gave me the green light and is very intrigued with the idea.

I read somewhere that it's better for you to start diets or weigh yourself on Thursday, as it makes you more likely to succeed. Psychologically half of the working week is over and this gives you more motivation heading into the weekend, regardless of whether you gain or lose weight as both serve as a kick up the backside. What are your thoughts?

Where were you 180 pages ago when we started this thread

I guess there is nothing to say that you can't weigh in on Thursdays and update this thread on Wednesdays. I know some folks who have participated have been on a diet program and weighed in on different days but still reported it on this thread.

As to your question, psychology is 9/10's of the battle so I say whatever works for you then do it.

After my 6 month vacation in Europe I weighed in and was still in range at 175lbs, just 2lbs increase from when I left. That was on Sept 11th, since then I have put on 2lbs, which is hopefully just noise. (my target weight is 175lbs - 180lbs).

188 March 12, 2013 Wow, I gained 10 lbs since Sept.

186 Jan 7, 2014 I've restarted my usual winter exercise...using the mini-stepper in my living room. I am also eliminating high GI foods per doctor's orders. My blood sugar crept up just a tad from its very good normal range. Prevention tactics based on annual physicals is a wonderful thing.

REVISED:
Short Term Goal - 175 lbs and maintaining all through 2014
Long Term Goal - 170 lbs for 2015
High school weight 135 lbs senior year, running track

I have not posted on this thread for a very long time. Two months ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so I started on a low carb diet and increased my daily walk/treadmill to one hour a day and 2 hours of tennis (doubles) twice a week.

10/21/2013 220 lbs
1/6/2014 202 lbs

12 more lbs to go to reach my goal by end of March.

Major indulgence in food and slacking off over the holidays. I have to say...it was worth it!

Hubbie and I started our annual January "40 Day Challenge" where we try to work out twice a day (cardio+weights) and eliminate alcohol from our diets completely. It's tough, but a great way to kick off the year. Still following a low-carb diet but obviously have slacked over the past month. Hoping this doesn't push me back into the pre-diabetes range. Have been able to keep my glucose controlled in the normal range with diet only for 6 months so far. Best wishes to those trying to accomplish this via diet. It is tough, but it works and is so worth it!

I've been doing the 5-2 thing for about five months now. I have lost about 45 pounds in that time. I'm at 198 now. The first few months the pounds just fell off. It's getting much slower now, but I'm aiming for the 180-185 range. And I have found that with the right foods you never have to feel hungry, even on your low calorie days. {I don't call it fasting because I'm still eating plenty of food.} Stir fry veggies, green beans, sweet potatoes and fish are my go to foods. Not just on the low calorie days, but most days. The best thing for me is how good I feel these days.

Haven't weighed in for a while. It seems like my yard work is taking off the pounds in summer, but sedentary winter lifestyle puts them back on.

Aiming for 185 and holding steady year round

Wow...that great Moe!

Your post inspired me to try on my 'goal' jeans (the skinniest pair I have). Since November of last year, the pounds are slowly melting away. At the beginning of my diet, I couldn't get them over my thighs. I tried them on today...got them over my thighs and hips then oh so close to being able to button and zip them.

It's gonna take shedding more pounds I'm afraid.... Not only do I want to be able to button and zip them, I want to be able to sit down comfortably without the button popping off and shooting somebody's eye out.

It took me a long time to lose the weight .I did it just by cutting my portions and not depriving myself of anything so it was pretty painless .If I could do it I know you can do it so keep trying on those jeans . One day they will just zip up .
