Medical care outside the US

Living abroad for a while or maybe for a long while may be interesting, fun and probably cost less than the US.
My concern would be medical care for major issues.

I know many say US care is not the best (I'm sure Europe is good) but are you really confident in the treatment you may receive in 2nd and 3rd world countries.
Has anyone had or know of anyone who has had major treatment abroad.

We all agree health premiums are out of control but I only know our system and I think our doctors, hospitals and technology are really good.
Expensive but good.

I would like to know about the quality of care outside the US.

I have a friend who is very well acquainted with Thailand and the medical care available there. His wife has had surgery there. He is very happy with it (but he knows where to go).

A couple years back Don Ho and his (American) physician actually traveled there for a stem-cell heart treatment that wasn't able to be performed in the U.S. It enabled Ho to return to performing for another couple years-- I think his heart function went from something like 30% to 70%. So they're not exactly fumbling amateurs over there.

The Kaderlis speak very highly of it as well.

Remember, your US insurance probably won't cover foreign expenses
unless its an emergency. So you might want to go HSA route, and
use those funds for non-emergency care. You obviously will be out
of network. But I would still maintain some US insurance just in case.
