Rather sobering article. Might be of interest to those considering retirement communities for themselves or for loved ones.

Yes it is. DW's parents are at an Erickson facility. It is independent from the development component of Erickson that is in chapter 11 but if the recession keeps new clients from joining things could eventually go south. For now they say they are fine but what would they say if they weren't?
 
Yep, sobering issues. My parents were in a continuing care community before they died and my father-in-law is in one now. Fortunately, he has the financial resources to cover any new fees or increases in monthly charges. At least in his community, most of the residents are quite old and in frail health, so they are not really worried about the long term trends. Sad.
