I put the chance of global depression/civil strife/societal collapse at maybe 5-10%. Just a SWAG, really, but other than a modest amount of MREs and weaponry, I can't afford to prepare for a holycost that never happens. I'd be stuck eating my guns and gold...

Had a couple of interesting conversations this weekend with a CPA and a senior local banker. It appears that things have stopped getting worse in the Pacific Northwest. For now.

It appears to me that there are external things (the Euro crisis, for example, or the coming wars with Iran and North Korea) that will cause more domestic pain.

Keep reading the newspaper.

I drove from east Texas, spent a couple days in Bastrop County, and another night in Georgetown this past weekend. It was the annual Christmas with the in-laws/outlaws extravagaza.... I'd say REWahoo's scary critters aren't the only things that'll getcha in Texas...looks like the wildfires and monster droughts are right up there too...
