It even had eight different bids. You have to admire the understated marketing. Perhaps Ryobi bought it so that they can squash the negative publicity.
The second ad reminds me of the classic classified "Last chance to send your dollars NOW!" with a P.O. box number. The ad never sold or promised anything-- it just gave an address where money could be sent, and people apparently did. The guy never got rich, but the response to major metropolitan ads always paid back his costs.
I've been told that the tactic has since been declared a form of mail fraud, but now I think I'm going to have to track down the truth of that rumor and then open an eBay account...
