I have been reading the sage advice here for several weeks - and - am quite impressed with the knowledge base - now I have a couple of questions.

What else do I need to do (over the next ten years) to prepare for ER?
my wife and I are 45 and plan to ER at 55
We are maxing out our 401ks with 95% in various mutual funds and the other is bonds - plan to slowly adjust this to 75%/25% mutual/bonds over the next ten years (current balance is just over $300k est yield of 8% with $3000 monthly payments - should equal around $1.2 million in ten years. 4% withdrawl rate plus $65k pension, should be enough to live on.)
Increased the house payment to payoff when we are 52
eliminated all other debt
Other savings outside retirement accumulted in ten years
to cover emergency stuff - target $100k.
Need a healthcare plan to cover the gap between 55-65.

Now after I get to ER - what additional things should i consider?
What educational materials can I read to prepare?
What are the gaps or misconceptions in this plan?

Thanks! :)

Geez, Scubamonkey, those questions pretty much cover the topic!

I think you should read as many of the old posts as you can for whatever keywords you find interesting. That'll help you discover interests that'll last you for the rest of your life.

You've read ESRBob's "Work Less, Live More", right?

I'd say that your biggest danger over the next decade would be over-nuking it and second-guessing yourself. Keep socking it away, stay in good health for those low-cost healthcare insurance rates, and keep reading. There are many paths to ER and you're well on your way.
