My add/remove programs window will not populate  There's no error message, it just will not populate. Any ideas as to how to get to my programs so I could remove some of them? I think there's another way through windows to remove programs besides the GUI.

Well, I've never seen this one happen. I suppose you've tried re-booting and making sure you've selected the top left hand icon in the Add/remove program window?

I'm not sure how to do it any other way. - If the above stuff does not make the programs reappear, you could always try a restore point from last week and see it that works.

Look here:

Start/run regedit

Look for the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Are there any entries under that key? If not, they're gone...thats where the data is stored.

If there are entries there, look for one that has a displayname or other name thats longer than 30 characters. Those can prevent the add/remove programs tool from displaying ANY names. Observe the offender then delete that key. The rest should come back.

If none of this works, boot up in safe mode and see if you can see them.

If none of that works, I think you're stuck on a reinstall.
Try rebooting in safe mode.
