Best area or place to stay in the Louisville, KY area?

I am going to be on a 7-10 day trip for work in Louisville, Kentucky in another month or so. I do not know the area well at all so I am looking for recommendations on what part of town I should stay in or even a specific hotel recommendation.

I would like to stay in an area that has a lot of restaurants, bars and nightlife within walking distance.
