I had my first experience with a megacorp Retirement Planning seminar put on my a MetLife representative.

I thought it was funny how he stressed the importance of putting in an extra 1% into your 401k plan if you are able. I didn't have the heart to interject saving 1% on fees goes a long way too.

I hope your 401k plan isn't in a MetLife annuity.

Did the rep have ANYTHING worthwhile to say, if not for you, for the uneducated masses?

It was pretty basic, pay yourself first, live below your means, save as much as you can.

There were a couple of things he said that I would have loved to correct. The most egregious was when he was talking about good debt and bad debt and he described a mortgage and a car payment as good debt. His justification for the car was that you need one to get back and forth to work.

While I agree with you, if that is the worst thing he said then he is ahead of the vast majority of his peers.
