My tax information will be no different from last year (except for the amounts).

I'm wondering if I can save time by just going directly to the forms instead of going through the interview process (e.g. Are you a blind retired train engineer, who both sold your farm and divorced your wife on a Tuesday in 2015?).

I'm using TaxACT.

I do this every year. I skip the interview questions, they can be confusing.

For the last 4 years, I have used Free File Fillable Forms (you start from irs.gov and transition to another site) and have been pleased so far. The Fed return is free to efile, hence the name. I do my state tax the old paper form method via USPS, so it costs me a stamp.

I do both with TA. I use the interview to double-check if I've missed anything. The last thing I want to do while doing taxes is save time as I know it will end up costing me in one way or the other.
