This story was just published on Sept. 2, 2018. The story of Deland McCullough and Sherman Smith. Deland a talented running back in high school, recruited by Sherman Smith, the running backs coach at Miami University. Deland immediately liked and respected coach Smith. Smith became Deland's friend and coach and began a long term football friendship.
Deland was adopted at birth. His birth mother never told his birth father of the pregnancy. She gave Deland up for adoption. Later in life, when Deland wanted to learn who his real father was, he started the search with the help of his adoptive mother who eventually was able to connect with his real mother. Very long story short, after all those years of friendship and respect and a close football coaching/career, Deland finds his real birth father is Sherman Smith. There was a DNA test, to be sure. It came back 99.9% positive that Deland McCullough was Sherman Smith's natural son.
