Rent vs. Own

Any scenario where it is better to rent and keep more of your money in retirement, or buy a house?

There have been a bunch of threads on this. Start by doing an Advanced Search (pull down the search tab on any page and select Advanced Search) Early Retirement & Financial Independence Community - Search Forums and put Rent as the search term, and limit searching to thread titles only, and show the results as threads.

There is no way anyone should say that one way is always better than the other. Too many factors that can vary.
