    No, vaccines!

REW, Yes, I remember the yellow shot card. If you vaccinations were not up to date you weren't allowed to get on the plane. I recall that we had to get cholera vaccinations every 6 months while stationed in the Philippines. Once I let mine lapse and had to be hustled over to the Clark AFB...

    Your recent repair? 2013 - 2020

Aja, I still have a scar in my scalp from wrapping my DM's '61 Corvair Monza around a tree. I was 15 and not wearing a seat belt. DUMB Corvair's of that era had major handling issues and would fishtail on a wet street without much warning. Remember Ralph Nader's book on the Corvair "Unsafe...

    How long to wait

Gumby, Wise words, Decisions made while experiencing impatience and a large degree of frustration may come back to bite us in our assets. Yes, we all have to make our own decisions but should ask what would a reasonable person decide. JMHO

Best source for finding part-time jobs?

These are dealer trade vehicles. You leave the car you drove to the out of town dealer and pick up the car that the customer at your dealership wants to buy. These trades or swaps are agreed to by both dealers. Each dealership has someone who handles dealer trades. If the customer wants a...

Best source for finding part-time jobs?

Vafoodie, I worked as a dealer trade driver for 5 years at a Houston area Toyota dealership. These are folks who drive vehicles being traded from the local dealer to pick up a customer ordered vehicle from an out of town dealership. When a trade is arranged by your dealer you must be...

    Don't move to Florida?

I grew up in New Orleans and have lived in the Houston area for over 30 years. As we are fond of saying yeah it's hot and humid but we at least we don't have to shovel it. Our miserable summers are payback for our mild winters.

    Tuff times ahead ..

Pacergal, Interesting comment. I'm sure some of those folks eating lunch out and frequenting Starbucks were also complaining that they couldn't save any $ for a rainy day. It's all about the choices we choose to make.

    Walking for weight loss?

I've been a walker for years ever since I had to quit jogging. I think you will find that walking at a brisk pace 4-5 times a week is helpful to lose inches rather than pounds. Start slowly and build up to an hour of walking if you can. My advice would be to go to a good running shoe store...

Wow, it’s getting really scary in Texas - and everywhere else!

What is really scary is that people like Karen vote and also procreate. I've always believed that disasters can bring out the very best qualities in people or the very worst. We are witnessing that now.

Poll: Are You Ready To Return To Your Favorite Dine In Restaurant?

W2R As kids growing up in New Orleans we would run through the fog when they sprayed our neighborhood. I know, not too smart.

2 implants on this past Monday at noon.

Two years ago I had 4 implants on my lower jaw and 1 on the upper. The oral surgeon did the extractions and inserted the posts while the prosthetic dentist fit the temporary teeth. I needed about 6 weeks for the bone to heal before the permanent teeth could be implanted. Yes, there is pain...

    Sweden’s “Bold Experiment?”

Chuck, I agree that the Covid19 death count should include the economic effects of the shutdown but how do you quantify those numbers?

This Is How Terribly Short Your Life Is

I retired at 57 in 2003 due to a disability that caused chronic pain. No fun At age 60 I was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. Had immediate surgery followed by chemo and radiation? This cancer had a 5-year survival rate of 10%. I believe the survival rates are a little better today...

    Geico v Amica?

I've been with USAA since 1969 and have had few complaints. We have our auto, homeowners, flood and life insurance with them and see no need to switch companies. It's also nice to receive the annual and senior bonuses paid out each year.
