Shocking Price to Launder a Comforter!

Last time I dry cleaned our comforter it was $35.00. A few months ago, I went to the laundromat, was indoctrinated on the cash to prepaid card system and spent about $7.00. I had previously laundered the “dry clean only” pillow shams at home and they were fine. I figured I didn’t have...

    I got a dog!

Took the big girl (see my avatar) to the groomer yesterday. Cost of a groomer went from $70 to $85 since March. Last few years we paid $60.00 for a groom. Groomer says folks are spending money on food, gas for car and heating fuel, pooch comes last. I’m afraid that her clients that go in...

    Dentists

If I do not like the provider I am unlikely to trust their advice. We drive another 30 miles to see an ENT that I really like. Our dentist is young, perky and cute but we like her.

    I got a dog!

Dogs are great! We have three. Our old girl was a rescue and is an ASD ( American Shelter Dog) and the two year old pups are Australian Shepards. The pups are very busy dogs. Do not imagine we will ever be without dogs. I predicted that with this economic slow down people would be...

    We fought the good fight

The best advice seems to be to wait 6 mos to a year before doing any house selling, etc. Support groups are a great idea…they have “ been there”, sometimes a therapist, not so much. So sorry for your loss.

I'm depressed but six months out and getting excited!

I gave a month and offered to work as a contractor until my replacement was up and running. The firm was glad to pay me twice my hourly rate, this dragged on for about 6 months but they wanted employees paid and clients billed… My daughter told one of the partners I left to spend more time with...

"This is the last one of these I'll need to buy!"

We picked up two Aussie pups last week. Almost tearfully, DH declared that these are probably the last dogs we will get. We are in our early 70’s, so could be. Now if the house can just remaining standing after these two little tornadoes get through puppyhood.

    Self Checkout: loathe or like?

Don’t like them! Our local grocery went to self checkout and the cashiers told me 24 people lost their jobs. I am retired and I like people to wait on me....

Time to let a friend go.

I am wondering if your friend has developing mental health issues or is becoming jealous. It is time to let him go. I would do it over the phone or however you usually set up your get togethers, explaining that his behaviors make you uncomfortable. Not to freak you out but I would also make...

    An unsettling evening walk...

I know two families whose athlete sons moved to heroin use after really bad sports injuries. Both became dependent on pain pills and when those supplies ended, heroin was there. In Boulder, one could buy heroin for $5 a hit...much cheaper than a six of Bud. Last I knew one was a returnee to...

    Brother's Keeper

This ALMOST happened to us this past week! My husband felt sorry for an acquaintance and offered trips to and from hospital for a somewhat minor surgery. Prior to surgery date, the “patient” asked if he could stay at our house for a few days post surgery! What? I was the bad guy and said...
