S.O. With High Debt / What to do?

OP, please consider this scenario: Young couple meet in college and date for 3 years then get married. During the marriage: The love birds talk - decide to put extra payments on 'her' college loans as her interest rates are a little higher while making the minimum payment on 'his' college loan...

    Contemplating divorce.....

What OP describes sounds very similar to what I lived with for 25 years. Why it was endured for 25 years is probably something I should have my head examined for. Anyway here's what we did to flatten out the roller coaster ride from hell. DW met with a gynecologist, I attended also. Had I not...

    Class of 2017

Day 22 of retirement. Have been lazier than expected. Ticked off one more item on the list yesterday. Bought our next home, a tenement on wheels (33' motorhome). We'll go pick it up in a couple weeks, get it stocked with the necessities and do some short trips to figure out what we got ourselves...

    Analysis Paralysis Syndrome

We call it Paralysis by Analysis and we're full fledged members. Guess I enjoy the process of learning every detail/aspect of something. One bonus is if you analyze a purchase long enough you may get to the point you no longer need it. Does that count towards being frugal? :)

Wow, things got crazy over the past couple months. Sold the house along with a lot of our stuff, moved to an apartment as a temporary step to the motorhome which we still need to buy, gave 2 month notice and turned 59.5 so IRA is now available also. Moved last work day from July 14 to June 30...

Looks like I'll be able to set the retire date soon. Accepted an offer on the house and if all goes well the sale should close in April. Once closed I'll pick a date to call it quits. Boss lady has asked for a 3 month notice to find a replacement so I'll honor that request...

    Stash of Cash?

I've got around $1k stashed away at the house. Bought a small fireproof/waterproof safe rated to protect flash drives. Keep my computer backup in there also.

For Those Planning to Sell Within 5 Years

OP - I'm actually in the process of remodeling our house which is in the same price range as yours. The house was built in the mid-50s and has never been updated. My DW and I are doing alot of the work ourselves so far but will hire out sheetrock (basement was gutted) and finish work. We're good...

$11.37 with a mortgage in rural SE Washington state. Would be $3.02 without the mortgage.

Another list of best retirement cities

About 3 to 4 times as much as what we get over here in Walla Walla. I think you get webbed feet if you live on the west side of the Cascades for too long.

    Fidelity RIP tool

Thanks for the info. Looks like the Adjust to future dollars option does an annual increase of 2.4%. I'm expecting my pension cola to be around 1.5% so I think I'll leave that option unchecked and err to the safe side in my planning.
